Temperatures on the Olympic Peninsula vary from 45 to 70 degrees during the day and 35 to 50 degrees at night. Layered clothing helps provide comfort in variable conditions. Suggested items that can be purchased through are new online store are

Day Hikes
- Day pack
- Layered clothing (i.e. tank or T-shirt, collared shirt or sweatshirt, wool or fleece sweater and warm pants)
- Sturdy shoes or boots
- Waterproof boots
- Warm jacket
- Warm knit or fleece hat
- Water bottle, unbreakable 1-quart plastic bottle with screw-on, leak-proof top
- Sunscreen
- 2 pencils
- Journal
- Fleece or wool mittens or gloves
- Sunglasses
- Binoculars
- Rain gear, waterproof, not just water-resistant, preferably a rain jacket and pants
Overnight Stays
- 3 sets of layered clothing for during the day (i.e. tank or T-shirt, long-sleeved shirt or sweatshirt, wool or fleece sweater and warm pants)
- Wool socks
- Underwear
- Polypropylene or other non-cotton thermal underwear
- Sleeping bag or sheets and blankets
- Towel
- Pillow
- Alarm clock
