Come see why National Geographic dubbed Olympic National Park "Nature's Champion" in their July 2004 issue. Take in spectacular coasts, mountains and ancient forests. Field trips and walks combined with hands-on activities foster special time with your grandchild. We'll walk 2-3 miles/day on moderate terrain while keeping our eyes peeled for nature's treasures! Discover the secrets of the old growth forests and local wildlife, explore pristine Lake Crescent, and investigate Washington's dramatic coastline. You'll have a chance to make a birdhouse, carve a cedar plank for cooking salmon, or create another artistic craft your grandchild can take home. Join us for a truly extraordinary stay in one of the most unique areas of the world.
This program is for Elderhostelers and their grandchildren (or other young person) ages 9-13, max 1 child per hosteler. Children are in same room or adjacent room in the same cabin as grandparents.

Join talented naturalists to learn about history and the natural sciences in spectacular Olympic National Park, rated one of the finest American Landscapes by National Geographic (July 2004). Each day, we'll hike among the stunning coastlines and ancient forests of the Olympic Range. Exploring diverse ecosystems, we'll rendezvous with Park Service scientists engaged in cutting edge research on the regions unique flora, fauna, and culture. We'll enjoy colorful sunsets and evening discussions at historic Rosemary Inn overlooking Lake Crescent.
Activity Level 2. Daily hikes of up to 5 miles; mostly level terrain through ancient forest, coastal tidepools, mountain ridges; options for participants of varying ability. Sturdy, comfortable walking shoes/boots required. Single rooms available.
