Clothing and Equipment List

For your comfort, please come prepared for wind, rain, fog or sunny weather. We expect mild to cool days (50's to 70's) and cool nights (40's to 50's) most of the year (late fall, winter and early spring temperatures are slightly cooler). Layering your clothing is an effective strategy for our variable climate.

Pants: 3 rugged pairs (including 1 pair of warm pants)

Shirts: 3 rugged shirts, plus a few lightweight T-shirts

Sweaters: 2 lightweight sweaters are better than 1 heavy one

Jacket: A sturdy windbreaker or heavier coat

Socks: At least 5 pairs of socks (preferably some wool)

Underwear: Enough for the week, lightweight long underwear can provide optional layer

Shoes: 2 pairs, including walking shoes that provide ample ankle support, are very water resistant, and are well broken in; and sneakers for indoor comfort.

Rubber boots:  Good for the coast as well as rain, if you have them.

Slippers: Bathroom and showers are in a separate building

Rain gear: Coated nylon rain jacket and pants preferably; otherwise, plastic gear or a poncho

Wool hat: For cool nights and rainy days.

Mittens: Warmer than gloves; preferably wool, which stays warm when wet

Toiletries: Shampoo, bar of soap, toothpaste, and a weeks' supply of medications.

Towels: 1 or 2 bath towels, a hand towel, and wash cloth

Flashlight: Standard 2 battery or small pocket size

Water bottle: Unbreakable, leak-proof, 1-quart plastic bottle
