Adult Education Programs

For lifelong learning

Yosemite National Institutes' programs settings are inspirational for learners of all ages. To encourage lifelong learning, we offer professional development opportunities for teachers, educators, and outdoor professionals. We also have programs for outdoor enthusiasts and Elderhostel members.

Teachers and Other Educators

Educators come to our campuses for inspiration and to learn skills in developing hands-on, inquiry-based curriculum. Participants in our programs:

Scholarships and travel stipends are available for participants in our Headlands Institute environmental educators course.

Fees for Olympic Park Institute teacher trainings and retreats are underwritten in large part by grantors.

 

Outdoor Professionals and Enthusiasts

Yosemite National Institutes offers 2-day and 10-day wilderness medicine courses that are nationally recognized and emphasize prevention and decision-making skills.

Each June, our Olympic Park Institute offers backcountry first aid and first responder courses take place each June.

In August, our Yosemite Institute campus hosts a Wilderness First Responder course.

 

Elderhostel

Our Olympic Park Institute campus offers Elderhostel programs for active adults 55 and over who enjoy the outdoors and learning in a fun, social setting. Programs incorporate crafts, natural history, moderate hikes in ancient rainforests, mountain ranges, and along the coast. Evenings include delicious, hearty meals in the historic Rosemary Inn with views of Lake Crescent.
