Coastal Camp at Headlands Institute

A Day at Camp

Every day at Coastal Camp is a special experience, full of fun activities, delicious lunches, and visits with our partner organizations

Cheers for a day at Coastal Camp in Sausalito!

The kids came home (reluctantly!) every day extolling the wonders of Coastal Camp, their awesome counselors, the amazing friends they made and their renewed love for the Headlands coast.

A Day at Coastal Camp

Hike to Point Bonita Lighthouse!

10:05 a.m. Riley, age 11, and her camp group just finished a morning hike along coastal trails and arrived at Point Bonita Lighthouse. Along the way they spied pelicans above and harbor seals swimming in the waves below.

Campers observe sea creatures up close in our marine lab!

11:30 a.m. Campers grades 1 to 6 get up close to sea stars, urchins, and anemones in the marine lab. Later during a seaweed smorgasbord, they'll be amazed to learn ocean plants can be used to make ice cream and chocolate milk!

Campers enjoy a nutritious and delicious lunch!

12:26 p.m.
Jayne and Ruth, both age 6, take a break to enjoy their healthy lunches prepared fresh daily by Headlands Institute chefs. Back on campus they serve their leftovers to the worms in the compost bin.

Campers enjoy an art activity with natural dyes!

2:35 p.m. During an afternoon art activity, campers experiment with natural fruit and vegetable dyes to design their very own bandanas!
