Educational Philosophy
Headlands Institute is dedicated to teaching science and environmental education in nature's classroom to inspire a personal connection to the natural world and responsible actions to sustain it.
- Core educational framework: Our programs are designed around the components of our educational framework: student-centered approach, ecology or science-based content, multiple teaching methodologies, and opportunities for positive outcomes.
- Classroom benefits: Standford University measured the success of our programs. The American Institutes for Research also found that experiential programs like ours have positive impacts in the classroom.
- Field science educators: We select the highest quality educators for our program. Their backgrounds reflect the diversity of Northern California, and they develop curriculum tailored for your classroom's needs.
- Before and after your trip: Pre- and post-trip visits to your classroom by educators prepare your students for this experience and connect their learnings to their community. Sample classroom curriculum can also help engage students.
- Testimonials: Our program's success is demonstrated by past participants' reviews.
